Bark Logger dog bark monitor app showing a barking report on a phone

Bark Logger

Ever wondered what happens after you close the front door? Maybe a neighbour has mentioned barking, or you’re working on separation anxiety and want to know if it’s getting better. Bark Logger is a free Android app that turns a spare phone into a quiet listener. Leave it near your dog, and when you get back you’ll see exactly when there was barking, howling or whining, with short audio clips to hear for yourself.

Bark Logger is made by Revenus Media.

How the dog bark monitor works

  • Choose how long to listen (1, 4, 8 or 12 hours, or until you stop it) and tap Start.
  • The phone listens in the background while you’re out, even with the screen off.
  • Come back to a clear report: barking bouts, episodes, total barking time, first and last bark, and an hour-by-hour chart.
  • Play a clip of each episode to hear what actually happened.

Is my dog barking when I’m not home?

Many owners only find out from a neighbour, and by then it’s hard to know how often it happens or what sets it off. Dogs bark when they’re alone for all sorts of reasons: boredom, noises outside such as deliveries or other dogs, or stress at being left.

A dog bark monitor shows the pattern. Barking in the first minutes after you leave tells a different story from barking every time the post arrives, and a quiet afternoon is good news too. Keep a few days of reports and you, your trainer or your vet have real information to work with.

Reports you can share

  • A tidy PDF report, or a CSV spreadsheet with every barking bout.
  • Share the report or the audio clips by email, WhatsApp or your cloud drive.
  • Handy for tracking training progress, or for a calm, factual conversation with a neighbour, landlord or residents’ association.
  • A history of past sessions, so you can see the trend day by day.

Built for long sessions

  • A readiness checklist helps you set up the phone so it keeps listening, including the extra battery steps some phone makers (such as Samsung and Huawei) need.
  • A dim-screen mode if you leave the app open.
  • If the battery runs low, listening stops gracefully and the report says why.
  • If a phone call interrupts listening, the report notes it, so a quiet stretch isn’t misleading.

Your audio stays on your phone

  • Sound is analysed on the phone itself by a built-in sound-recognition model. Audio is never uploaded.
  • No account, no cloud, no second device and no subscription.
  • Audio clips are kept only as long as you choose (3, 7 or 30 days, or until you delete them). Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
  • The app is free and shows small banner ads on the report and history screens, never while it’s listening.

Also included

A training whistle: a tone generator from 1 to 20 kHz with press-and-hold play.

Bark Logger detects sounds automatically and can occasionally miss a bark or mistake another sound for one; the clips let you check. It does not diagnose behaviour or stop barking. Recording audio may be regulated where you live, so only use the app where you’re allowed to.
